WCLS provides services to low-income workers and former workers.  Services are provided both by WCLS staff as well as through the Toronto East End Employment Law Services (TEELS).  Together, WCLS and TEELS offer employment law services in the areas of employment standards, human rights, wrongful dismissal, and employment contracts.

Examples of employment issues we may help with:

  • You were dismissed from your job and want to know whether you received the correct amount of termination and severance pay

  • Your employer or someone in the workplace harassed you or dismissed you and you believe it was related to your race, gender, disability, or other protected human rights ground

  • Your employer is not respecting your rights to rest periods, vacation, minimum wage, or other rights as a worker

  • You have an employment contract with a new employer and are not sure whether you should sign it

We cannot provide advice about workers health and safety, workplace accidents and injuries, workers’ compensation (WSIB benefits), or unionized workplaces, but will try to provide information and referrals about these matters.
